Power fluctuation problems should never be taken lightly. It can damage appliances and at the same time, could cause other home accidents that could lead to property damage. While power fluctuations can take place once in a while, especially during inclement weather, it is never reasonable to experience it regularly.

So what causes power to fluctuate around the home? Home Architecture and Design website Hunker.com explained the possible reasons why electricity may fluctuate at home. One of the reasons they mentioned in their write-up is interference. Build Safe

“Running the wrong combination of appliances and sensitive electronics on the same circuit leads to a serious power fluctuation limited to that particular circuit area. Many small appliances, including hairdryers and cordless phones, create surges on the circuit to which they’re attached. Symptoms from these fluctuations show up in lights attached to the specific circuit or flickering and malfunctioning electronics.”

Belgian energy website Energuide has explained how these power fluctuations damage appliances and electronic devices being used at home. They told that while utility providers put measures in place to prevent voltage fluctuations, there are instances that cannot be avoided, such as extreme weather, spikes, as well as short circuits. WikiHow meanwhile shared some ways on how homeowners can protect their appliances from voltage fluctuations. In their write-up, they shared three possible ways to avoid the damage that can be brought forth by sudden power surges. One of the ways they discussed is protection through the use of surge protectors.
